Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

I got arrested for theft over $50 under $500 on 11/13/2009 at walmart in rockwall Texas. I did not have any stolen property on me my friend got caught outside with stolen property and the next thing i know while i was still inside shopping i get pulled to the back for shoplifting. I had know idea she was stealing and i didn't take anything but still got arrested and charged i have court on 1/11/2010 i got released on bond. I was already on bond for 2 pending drug felonies that occured on 6/26/09 my first court date for that case is 1/5/2010 i have a lawyer for the felony case my question is do i need a lawyer for the misdamenior theft case and will it affect my drug case or will my drug case affect the theft case? the drug case was in a different county (Dallas).

You need a lawyer on the misdemeanor case.

You may be able to negotiate a plea bargain on the misdemeanor that gives you credit for the time you serve on the felonies (assuming you do any time). If the cases are tried, the state may try to get your criminal record into evidence. You would need an attorney to try to prevent this.

It sounds like the store is alleging that you were helping your friend steal. You need to have an attorney review the evidence against you and advise you of your options.
