How do you have an assault case dismissed if the state is who pressed charges?

If you are the complainant, you can ask the prosecutor to dismiss the charges and provide an explanation of why you want them dismissed. However, it is up the prosecutor whether or not to dismiss or proceed with the case (if they have sufficient evidence.) You can also cooperate with the accused person's lawyer on the case.
