Assault
I have been charged with assault and I want to know does it go on my permanent record? Also I have to pay court cost. Around how much is that?

Re: Assault
All charges go on your criminal record. They stay there unless the case is expunged. If you are convicted or take a plea bargain you will have to pay court costs. The amount depends on the county. In Bexar County it is around $400.
You need to consult a lawyer to defend you and to expunge the case.

I agree with Mr. Engelke. Also want to point out that the costs depend upon whether the charge is a felony or misdemeanor. You will need to pay attorney fees, and if you get probation or deferred, you will have a monthly fee to pay.
