Does an assault by contact ticket stay on record. in the city of garland texas. why does an offender have to go to jail for a ticket

An offender does not HAVE to go to jail for a ticket but it is up to the police. If the offender just committed the act or is out of control or whatever, it is safer to take him to jail.
Assault by contact stays on the record if one pleads guilty and pays the fine.
