Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Assault on a family member
My brother is 19 and lives w/ my aunt who is 32. They got into a fight and he pushed her down the stairs and bruised her arm by grabing her. She called the police. The police arrested him for charges of assault on a family member. After my aunt calm down (the next day) she went to pay the bond to get him out. She did not press charges but the state did. We received a court citation. @ court the judge said to come back w/ a lawer. What can happen, What r our options?
Thank u for ur time, Claudia

You are going to have to hire a lawyer ... preferrably near to the area where the case has been filed ... I am in San Antonio, Texas and can help if you are around this area. I can help in any area, but it is not cost effective unless money is not an issue. If I can help, call me at 210.224.5811

Re: Assault on a family member
The state can proceed if they choose, however without the testimony of the victim it is harder to convict. If you are in Houston area I will gladly help you.
