Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
assult charge
my partner assulted me a few weeks back and I attempted to drop charges - only to be summoned by the prosecutor to testify. The public defender told him that if I didn't show up the case would be dismissed - is this true?

Re: assult charge
Depends upon what you mean by summoned. Were you served with a subpoena? Or did you get a polite phone call asking you to show up? If you were subpoenaed -- you have to go. If not, then you do not have to go. If you do not go willingly, the prosecutor may get a continuance, and then subpoena you.
