Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Assult with a deadly weapon against a minor

Today i was assulted by an adult, 35-45 yrs old i beleive, he entered my house with a shovel and swung to kill, or badly injur. I was on my feet and was able to overcome him and take him to the ground untill we were broken up. There was a report filed, but no charges have ben pressed yet. I'm considering pressing charges, but want to know what the penalty might be. As adrenaline wore of, i have noticed injuries, and am on my way to the hospital. I plan to sue for bills, and pain and suffering.

Re: Assult with a deadly weapon against a minor

He may be guilty of a series of charges ranging from breaking and entering to assault/battery with a dangerous weapon to attempted kidnapping, etc. Depending upon his prior record and other circumstances, he could be looking at a substantial jail term.

Criminal charges are separate from your injuries which fall into the civil category.
