Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Is my attorney working FOR me?
I am in a pending criminal case and pretrial is in a few days. I have given my attorney information which is critical to my case (written statements from 2 witnesses in the case). At the time I gave him these, he indicated he would use them to procure affadavits from the witnesses, yet he has done nothing as of yet. I also gave him the name of an attorney working WITH the 2 witnesses (they are out of state) along with the atty's business and fax numbers. He has never contacted the attorney and won't even return HIS calls. He (my attorney) never returns my calls and never seems to be available when I try to call him.I have already paid quite a bit of money to him and don't feel I am being represented adequitely. Can I approach the Judge/Courts with this. What are my options at this point? Is it too late to try and change counsel? What will the court and DA's reaction be to all of this? Please help with advice. Thank you.

Hard to reach lawyer
Make an appointment to discuss the matter with the lawyer and keep the appointment. If you aren't satisfied, find another lawyer. Like a job, it is best to know that you can obtain another lawyer before quitting the one you have.
