Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Bench warrant
I received a notice from Texas - my home state that I had failed to appear in court in answer to a previous summons, one I had not received. This was for a supposed traffic violation ie - car violations - no inspection sticker, registration, county sticker for a car in Texas. I have not lived in Texas since 1987 and most certainly have not owned a car there and haven't even visited there for 3 years at the time. In response - I sent proof from Virginia that I was working (2 jobs) at the time - (timesheets from Burns Security and Pizza Hut) and my actual car info.
The prosecuting attorney would not accept this proof and insisted that I come to Texas and has issued a warrant for me there. I can not afford the legal fees nor the time off and travel expense to go to Texas for this. What can I possibly do? I do not wish this kind of thing to effect my current job as a security supervisor. I have no record and wish to keep it clean.

Re: Bench warrant
Write the judge of the traffic court in Texas
with your explanation accompanied by supporting documentation, rather than the prosecutor.
Ask that the warrant be quashed or dismissed.
