Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Booked into jail on a class c misdemeanor
Is it legal for a 17 year old to be booked and held in county jail on a Class C misdemeanor charge? No phone call, roughed up while in jail.

Re: Booked into jail on a class c misdemeanor
Under criminal law, 17 is the magic age to be treated as an adult. It is rare to be jailed on a Class C misdemeanor, but it is legal. If he was roughed up by law enforcement, and did not provoke it by resisting etc, then it was illegal. Consult an attorney with the full facts of the case.
