Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

My boyfriend is currently in jail for a MTR and we had hired a lawyer and the DA said that the offer was 12 months. Well he had some back time from before. About six months is what his back time was. The county he is jail at offers 2 for 1 days. will the lawyer said the that they are not giving him that he is getting day for day cuz his MTR is on a state jail offence. Im not understanding how they can do that.........can they? Since his offer is 12 months ( he has 6 months back time and has 2 more on top of that) they are only doing 80 percent of state jail time how much more time does he still have to do?

He gets credit for the time served in jail. On a state jail offense, this would be the 6 months already served plus the two additional months you claim. That's 8 months so he has 4 left.

He can reduce his sentence by as much as 2.4 months by participating in certain programs at the state jail.

If he were serving jail time on a misdemeanor, the sheriff can credit him additional time such as 2 for 1. However this is not a misdemeanor.
