Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
my brother is incarcerated for murder and possesion of narcatics 200 g and hes in garza west unit right now , we did an appeal case and his lawyer has yet to recieve the court ordered transcripts , we recieved a paper from his lawyer that said that the lady that writes the transcripts would be in contempt of court would this benefit my brothers case in some way , also yesterday thgey told him that he would be out in less than 3 years and hes supposed to serve 30 years , is that right also can he be on parole until 2039 is that possible
1 Answer from Attorneys
Appeals can take a long time. Just because the court reporter is late in providing a transcript does not mean your brother will see a benefit. No, getting out after 3 years does not sound right, unless he has a lot of credit for time already served. Yes, it is possible to be on parole until 2039.
