Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Capital Murder
My husband is being charged with a crime that happened 20 years ago when he was a juvenile. Will he be prosecuted under those laws? His bond is set at $500,000, is there any way it can be reduced to $100,000 with an attorney involved? They got a warrant for his DNA and had been collecting samples of it since summer from our trash can, if the DNA doesn't match, will they release him or pursue the charges from another angle?

Re: Capital Murder
In Texas, there is no statute of limitations on murder, meaning that it does not matter how old the alleged offence was committed. Conversely, you should really look to hire a law firm experienced with criminal matters to get the bond reduced and to challenge the DNA evidence.
