Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
A case in California brought in an audio forensic specialist from Texas instead of using one who was from California. Seems like there would be plenty there in Southern California.
Are there any advantages of bringing in an out of state expert at greater expense? For example would it be harder to subpoena them if there was an appeal or other criminal or civil action should the testimony not be accurate?
thank you

The purpose may be that the expert is better qualified; the expert has a better reputation; the lawyer has worked with the expert in the past; etc. There is nothing wrong in handling the use of an expert in this manner.
