Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

I'm being charged with Forgery Financial Instrument on April 20 and I was needing to get a lawyer. The reason for this charge is beacuase in November of 09 I got a check thru the mail and with my name and my address and a water proof back on it just like anyother legal check. So I took it to my bank at the time and I went inside and they ran it thru there machine the teller asked me how i wanted it back I told her give me 2500 and keep the rest in my account. The reason I took out the 2500 was beacuase I was behind on my house payments as well as other bills such as water, light etc so I payed my bills. The next day I went and took out 1000 to send to truck payments which I was also already late on. So a few days passed by and I get a call from the bank telling me that I needed to come up there becuase they check that I cashed was fake and I went up there and went thru an investigation with a good friend of the bank manager who happend to be the private detective for Irving Pd and he basically told me that I had 2mths to go and get the money or I would be taken to jail for theft I told hime look I dont have money I had last my job in october and was without a job and pretty told me that I needed to come up with that money kinda throwing his power around cuase he was a detective and friend of hers. I told them that I could do an arrangment until i paid it off and they said not for me to go and borrow or get the money anyway. So of course I didn't cuz I went another 2mths witout a job and then in January an officer took me into jail for the theft and I bailed out and I have started working since and i'm still willing to pay off the debt but not all at once cuase I have mouths to feed and clothed as a parent. I feel we are both to blame for what happend becuase they didn't put a stop on the cheack for 3days instead they let me get the money that same day so i didn't think anything of it and now i'm in world of trouble for something so stupid and i'm needing help.

You really need to hire a lawyer. A lawyer may be able to work out a deal for restitution.
