I was charged with a state felony after getting caught with less than one gram of cocaine. I am a first time offender. Is jail time absolutley required

State Jail does not mean that you will go to jail. A State Jail Felony is the lowest degree of felony there is in Texas, followed by third, second, and first degree and then by capital offenses.

There are State Jails designed for offenders charged with state jail felonies.
