Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
I have been charged with verbal assault on my wife...I was arrested and have to go to court next month...I never verbally threatened her...she says she didnt tell the police anything which I dont believe...there are no witnesses...basically my word against the police report as she says she is not going to testify against me...what am I supoosed to do here? I dont have alot of money for an attorney...to be totally honest my wife is extremely verbally and physically abusive to me....I know its not the norm but its true...I really dont want this on my record

I don't think there is a law against verbal assault. For assault to occur, there has to be some kind of bodily injury. that requires at the least, an unwelcome touch.
