Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
didn't know charges until preliminary hearing
If a person is arrested on a felony theft. Stealing cash from an individual, in the amount $15,000.00 to $20,000.00. And the warrant was issued 2 years after the date the alleged crime was committed.
But, on court day, to hear the judge read the charges. The person is told, she's charged with an overpayment of $4000.00 in unemployment compensation.
Is there anything wrong with this procedure.
The person was arrested because she had the same name as another. There was an impossibility, that that this person, could have committed the felony theft. So she kept calling the police protesting, she had been falsely arrested.
The bail i paid, was based on a warrant issued for felony theft.

Get a lawyer. It is unlikely that you will be able to straighten out this mess on your own.
