Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
checks
I am a doctor. I work for another doctor. I do not have any type of cotract with this doctor. They are terminating me as they can't afford me anymore. Question is, if I have a check that has been sent to me for services rendered in the clinic by me but it is only has my name on it, is it a problem for me to cash this check.

Re: checks
Hello there,
The check can be cashed. If it had the words FULL ACCORD AND SATISFACTION FOR SERVICES then I would not cask it because you would not have any further recourse you could use against the doctors after you cashed the check.
You need to talk to some employment lawyers about your termination. Texas is an employment at will state; meaning you can be hired and fired for any reason other than discrimination. But, you are a professional and you may have detrimentally relied on statements made by these doctors to get you to work for them.
When you talk to employment lawyers ask them about detrimental reliance or if you would like to talk to me feel free to call. You can locate my phone number by going to TylerJustice.com.
I wish you the best in your endeavors.
Sincerely,
