Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
I was given a citation last night for disorderly conduct (exposure). I don't want to go to jail, I don't want to be a sex offender, I want to remain eligible to be my handicapped child's guardian, and I would like to remain eligible to buy a gun. I am confused and scared. I have only until Aug 21 to appear/respond. I have almost no money. What do I do?

Best option is to consult a criminal attorney in your area. Many will give you a free initial consultation. Just explain that you have some questions about the consequences of the citation you received.
Show up in court on the day you are supposed to appear. If you don't, a warrant will be issued for your arrest and you will be taken to jail.
Usually if you are only given a citation, your are being charged with a Class C Misdemeanor. Parking tickets are in the same category of offense. Offenses that result in designating you as a sex offender are punishable by jail time. Class C Misdemeanors are punishable only by a fine not greater than $500. Chances are you can work out a payment plan if you choose to plead with court.
