Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Class A Misdemeanor

My then 17 year old son was charged with a Class A Misdemeanor. He was with 2 other kids younger then he. He had found some matches and one of the other kids took the matches and started a dumpster fire. My son stayed and called 911 but the other 2 ran off. Do I need to hire a lawyer, he wants to be a police officer, and this charge will disqualify him.

You should absolutely hire a lawyer. The lawyer might be able to keep the offense off his record, maybe get your son some type of pre-trial diversion.
