Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Cleaning your background

I have made some mistakes in my life , ive been to prison and now have a felony, it has been about 5 years , i now am about to graduate college, but no one will hire me , once a background check is ran, is there any way to clear it up, i have been offered a few high paying jobs but once the background comes through they all tell me the same thing, ive heard alot of talk, from ''people'' that you can pay a lawyer to get it taken off, is that true, and if so , does that mean it will now show on a background check, i have a felony and a state jail felony, the first was 9 years ago the second 5 years ago. one last question, if i move to another state will that still come out on a background check ,that was my plan , but im being told that it will still come out? Thank you for your time

Re: Cleaning your background

You cannot expunge felony convictions from your record. Your only real option would be to try and get a pardon from the governor. The odds of that happening are very slim.

Dont let someone fool you into thinking if you pay them a lot of money they can clear your record. You are not eligible for a standard expunction or petition for non-disclosure.

Re: Cleaning your background

It would depend on what was the outcome of the cases. You may have two options, first an expungment or a non-disclorure.
