confession question

what reasons do judges use to suppress confessions? How successful is recanting a confession-what is it? what happens when you recant immediately after giving the confession?If you confess to a cop not a detective is it still eld against you?I wasnt under arrest when i confessed - what is a voluntary confession? I wasn't read any rights because I wasn't under arrest,so is the confession admissable?

Surely by now you recognize how important it is that you get a lawyer immediately. If you were not under arrest, and you gave a spontaneous confession, then you are in big trouble, and a lawyer may still get it suppressed, but possibly not. If your confession was in response to questioning by law enforcement, then it becomes a complex matter sometimes to determine if you were under arrest or not -- being in custody does not necessarily require the magic words "You are under arrest". There are legal standards that determine if a confession can be suppressed, most established by caselaw. It must be voluntary and knowing. Get a lawyer.
