Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Controlled substances
There was a bottle of about 70 Hydrocodone tablets stolen from our home by our sons friends. Their age is 17-18. We were not at home at the time but our son was. Can we be held liable for the actions of the ''adults''? Because they are considered adults will we be told there should have been supervision?

Re: Controlled substances
It would be nearly impossible for you to be held liable. If your son directly engaged in activity that you could reasonably foresee, and you did not prevent, and your inaction was negligent, then maybe you could be held responsible for your son's action. Kids who are 17 - 18 years old are not required to be provided babysitters. Assuming these were prescription drugs, did you report the theft to the police? TCL
