Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
convicted of agg robbery and is inmate now
my son was convicted of agg robbery and robbery at age 17. I would like to know if there is anything that can be done since this is his first time doing anything like this. I was not aware that i could have appealled this the lawyer we had told us nothing and really did nothing for him, but told him to plea for 15yrs because that was as good as he would get. i would like to about getting the agg taken off or is it to late to file for shock probation. It really is stressful when you pay a laywer and he walks out of the court room and never give you any choices of any kind.It was a nightmare. I know that he has to do day for day and get no good time. It's bad when you never have been in this situation and don't know the law or anything. If there is anything you can offer please let me know. This happened in 2004 and he was sentenced Oct 2005.
thank you

Re: convicted of agg robbery and is inmate now
It is probably much too late to take action at this point -- except to focus on parole issues -- especially if he took a plea.
The attorney may be right -- 15 years might have been the best he could do -- it depends not only upon his age and record, but the facts and circumstances of the charges against him. The only way to answer your question is to take a COMPLETE copy of the file to an attorney, and pay that attorney to review the file and the applicable law to see if there are any available options for him.
