Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
I was a cosigner on someone's bond that was posted in 2010 and the defendent has just signed for 4 years in March of this year but he has an unpaid balance. Someone is contacting me and the other cosigner stating that they are about to press felony charges against us if we don't pay the unpaid balance. They will not give us any information as to where the business is located and they want us to pay by credit card over the phone. These people are stating that they are investigators and they will pursue with felony charges against us. However, they are not contacting me and the other cosigner from landline telephone numbers. They are calling us both from different cell phones. Is this a possible scam?

Yes, I think it's very likely that is some kind of a scam. Contact the bonding company and ask to speak with the owner--it's possible this is something being done by an employee or ex-employee, and the owner needs to know about it. Don't EVER give your credit card information to someone who contacts you like that.
