Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
If a couple impersonating a representative of a nonprofit is soliciting donations in the non profits name and keeps the money. what type of theft is that? and how as a non profit can we press charges?
1 Answer from Attorneys
As an Austin Injury Lawyer I handle cases where individuals or companies have a claim against others either for negligent acts or intentional acts.
The couple's acts are intentional acts and for that they face both criminal and civil liability.
You can pursue criminal liability by contacting the local police and explaining the situation.
You can pursue civil liability by contacting a local civil litigation attorney. The key factor issues will be: 1. The amount of money stolen by the couple, and 2. The assets of the couple (i.e. does the couple have assets to go after?).
Good Luck!
