Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
how can a court appointed lawyer for a juvenile charged with assault with a hand mirror and no other arrest record charge a fee above what is public defender pay is?

They shouldn't do that. In every county I have ever taken an appointed case, lawyers are not allowed to take money in excess of the county payment.
I consider this unethical and I would report it to the judge and the state bar.
