Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Court dates
My friend has been in jail for 2 months and he has not had a court, nor he has been sentenced. How long does it take to give him a court date? How long he needs to stay in jail for theft under 5000 and classified as a felony. Does the time that he has been in jail will count when they sentenced him?

Re: Court dates
Your friend needs a lawyer, either appointed or retained. Especially if he is in Lew Sterrett, which has a terrible computer system, and often misplaces people. Assuming his lawyer properly requests it, he will get credit for time served.
