Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

How does the court system work?

During a recent background check it

had come to my attention that there is a

warrant out for my arrest. I've been

charged with a felony reduced to a

misdemeanor. This happened in 2003

in the Dallas, Texas. This is the first

time i've heard of this...I did not do

what they are saying I did! What do I do

now? I do not have the money to hire a

lawyer and this has prevented me from

employment! Any information you can

give will be helpful! Thank you.

turn yourself in and bond out the longer you delay the worst it gets. Find friends and family to help hire an attorney, good luck

Mr. Yoakum is correct. You can call a bondsman in the Dallas area -- he/she will find out the particulars of the charge and the amount of the bond. The bondsman can also prepare the paperwork in advance so that when you surrender at your local jail the process will be much quicker. If you plan to post a bond, however, you need to see about hiring a lawyer. Dallas judges tend toward the attitude that if you can afford the bond, then you can afford the lawyer.
