Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

CPA Certification

I am a CPA in the state of Texas. I am currently considering a plea in order to get through a problem issue (in my personal life) . Will a lose my CPA license since I would plead to a felony?

Re: CPA Certification

The Act requires that upon submitting your renewal application, and providing the information regarding the felony, then the Board has the authority to conduct an investigation into whether or not to renew your license. You are entitled to a hearing on the renewal, if they find that due to the felony, you are ineligible. The Act requires that renewals have the same eligibility as a first-time licensee, which is 'good moral character, as demonstrated by a lack of history of dishonest or felonious acts'. As a lawyer, I would assume that there is case law, as well as administrative rulings out of Travis County, which further define that phrase. The Board has various options, being to revoke, suspend, probate or censure the applicant. You should get a lawyer.
