Re: Criminal case
Different counties handle cases differently. Generally, an announcement hearing is a way to keep the lawyers and defendants on track, and the case does not slip away unattended. At an announcement hearing the attorneys discuss plea bargain offers, pretrial issues, and the state of the witnesses and evidence. Usually, it is then reset for another hearing, or a plea is entered that date.
