Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Old criminal history
My job I've ha for 19 years is starting to fingerprint ALL employees. I work for a school district as a teachers aide. I did work 18 years as bus driver then bus driver trainer. If my fingerprints come back ''bad'' is there anything I can do to protect my job. My crime was 2 forgerys by check. Ihad 5 years deffered adjudication probation and served it without and further incidene, and still no more trouble since that unfortunate time, and there was nothing before that time. I was told I could have my record expungged but have no idea how to go about that. I live in Texas. Any suggestions. The new job applications say ''have you ever been convicted of any crimed involving moral terpitude'' Would forgery fall in this category.
Thank you,

Re: Old criminal history
I agree with Mr. Palmer, that if you completed deferred, you were not convicted. Forgery is a crime of moral turpitude, but you were not convicted, as the charges would have been dismissed.
You are probably eligible for an order of nondisclosure, but it might not be sealed from a school district.
Re: Old criminal history
You have not been convicted if you succesffully completed a deferred probation. You are not eligible for expunction but a nondisclosure.
