Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Criminal Law
I was sentenced to 5 years deferred adjudicated probation last week for distribution of a controlled substance in Fort Worth, TX. My question is will I have to continue paying and reporting to probation once a month for the year or so it will take for my case to be heard by the higher appeal court? If so, when does that start because I have already been to orientation and have to report to my probation officer for the first time next week?

Re: Criminal Law
Assuming you have filed your notice of appeal, you will not be required to serve your probabtionary term while your appeal is pending. However, unless you file the notice of appeal, there is no review by the higher court.
