Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Curious question

Over 1 year ago (16 months to be exact) I was arrested and booked on Injury to a Child Charges. Later on I found out that the District Attorney looked at the case and sent it back to the Police Department. This was over 1 year ago. Since then a case has not been filed. I have since been allowed to return to work for the school district that I work in because technically there has not even been an indictment much less a conviction. My question is what type of scenarios can I expect to happen. Incidentally, the incident for which I was arrested in December of 2006 occured in February if 2005. I really feel like this whole thing was an incident that got totally blown out of proportion.

Re: Curious question

Very interesting question.

My advice would be to not try and not bring any attention to this and hope that the case is not presented to a grand jury.

The state has a statue of limitations period of up to three years to obtain and indictment.

So keep your fingers crossed and hope nothing happens to get your case indicted.

Sincerely,
