Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

@ Cynthia Henley, Thank You so much for your quick response.

He has not been given a court date. We are just waiting for his court date but i dont have money for the bond so he filled out a paper in jail to ask for a public defender.what is the statue of time if he hasnt been convicted yet. How long must he wait there, 30 days before court date for first offense.

Class A misdemeanor. Also, the time he is waiting in there for court will it count as time serve?

I dont understand. In San Patricio County jail, Texas.

You are welcome. It is good that he filed an application for an appointed attorney. Honestly, I do not know how long things take in San Patricio County. In Harris County where I practice most often, he would be brought to court within 3 days. It would be a violation of the Fair Defense Act if he was left sitting 30 days.

Yes, he gets time credit for the time that he is sitting in jail awaiting court.
