Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
My dad tried to cash a check he found already made out. He didnt sign anything in the store while trying to cash it he just tried it the way it was. When he was asked to see some id by the clerk he said he was going to go get it and than he left. The clerk than called the police and was pulled over on the highway once he left and was charged with forgery. I thought that forgery was when you made out a check or signed it yourself he did none of this he thought he was going to get luck by trying to cash it the way it was. Which he didnt. Is he being charged with the right charges or would this fall under a different category.

Unfortunately when he tried to pass it as his, this act conformed with the forgery statute. He is being charged with the right statute. He needs a lawyer.
