Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

My daughter is on deferred adjudicaition for DWI and is on probation. She got arrested for 2nd DWI in a different county. We have since discovered she has mental problems. She refused all tests and we posted bond. She told the judge she would hire her own attorney. Well, we don't have the $ to hire the same attorney as before. Should we sacrifice all we have to hire the attorney or is the court appointed attorney route acceptable.

You are looking at two lawyers. One for the dwi and another for the motion to revoke probation which is likely to be filed. I would recommend asking for a court appointed and seeing if you are satisfied with the court appointed lawyer. If not, I would recommend hiring an attorney for the dwi case. This is because the dwi case will affect any motion to revoke probation. The reason being that any such motion will alleged violation of probation based on a new offense, the dwi.
