Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
whats the deal and what can i do?
Hello,
Back in 2000, I received deferred adjudication for a class 2 felony(AADW). I have been on probation for 7 years now out of 10. I have never had any other run in with the law. My question is, during a background check for employment, when it asks if I have ever been convicted of anything, I was told that legally I can say ''no.'' However, I am aware that this will show up on background checks and any potential employer will see that there is a ding and say ''thanks but no thanks'' EVEN though technically I am not convicted of anything.....yet. Is this legal? I have already been denied several jobs because of this reason. I know that I can have the case sealed but not until I complete the probation and then wait an additional 5 years. What else can I do.
Thank you so much for your time.

To my knowledge, there is nothing else you can do. Are you eligible for early termination of probation? If so, it would at least start the time running sooner.
