Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

deferred adjudication vs. pre-trial intervention

Have you ever received deferred adjudication or similar disposition in federal state or municipal court?

My question is...is pre-trial intervention the same thing or similar to deferred adjudication?

PLEASE HELP!

Re: deferred adjudication vs. pre-trial intervention

Hello there,

There is a difference between deferred adjudication and pretrial diversion.

For pretrial, you do not have to make a plea of guilty to begin the pretrial program. This pretrial program is like probation. Individuals are monitored for a period of time and if they do not get in trouble there case is dismissed.

Now, deferred adjudication probation one has to plead guilty but the judge suspends the sentence of guilt dependent on how you do on probation. If you complete your probation without problems you criminal record will show an arrest but no final conviction.
