Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Deferred Adjudication

My son was 15 when he was arrested at school, taken to juvenile detention for the afternoon and subsequently prosecuted for hitting another student. H was given deferred adjudication and had no problems, whatsoever since then. The student was fine and they're friends now, communicating on a regular basis. The problem is that now he's 18 and looking for a job. Is that going to show up on his record? If so, how do we get that off, so as not to ruin his future for life?

Re: Deferred Adjudication

When asked if he has ever been convicted, his proper and legal answer is 'no'. Generally all juvenile records are closed to the public. He can get the records sealed if is still concerned. The attorney fees and filing fees are reasonable, and the process is straightforward.
