Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Deferred Adjudication Violations
I was placed on 5 yrs deferred adjudication and ordered to pay court costs, restitution. My restitution was set too high for me to be able to pay, when I told my lawer that he explained to me that they couldn't throw me in jail for trying but not being able to make full payment. I was wanting to go to Africa on a missionary trip in June, so when I called my Probation officer to see if I could, she told she didn't mind until she found out that I was behind on my restitution payments. She said that they are the only people who can throw me in jail for not paying. I explained that I have been sending payment to them but I just couldn't make full payment. She said that I needed to get caught up and start making full payments. What should i do?

Re: Deferred Adjudication Violations
I would advise you that you need to forget the trip and pay as much as you can toward the restitution or you are going to get in trouble with the Court where you received your probation.
