Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

deferred ajudification

i had 2 misd-assult bodily injust-family member in 1999. if i remember correctly i made a plea and they lowered the charges and gave me deferred judification. i completed my probation which was to stay out of trouble for like a yr. well, recently i applied to rent an apt and it showed up on a criminal bkg check. i cannot find the papers from when all of that happened and it was my first and only offense. so, i was wondering how i can have it removed from my record, where to get the info from (i have both cause #'s), and where i would have to send a mutual non-disclosure form to if that is what i need. this is important because it will effect my job in the future. also, would i be able to have it expunged from my record and how would i go about doing that?

Deferred Adjudication

You may not expunge your record; the Assault charge will never be erased from your records as the law exists today. However, you may seal your crimnal history from prospective employers with an Order of Non Disclosure. That requires a hearing before a court. You'll need an attorney to advise and assist you.
