After deferred judification

After being placed on deferred judification (12 months) for a misdemeanor (theft under $500) will it still be on my record or do i need to seek legal assistance to remove from record/background?

The arrest is not going to come off of your record. If you successfully complete your probation (community supervision), then your record will reflect that the charge was dismissed.

You will not have a conviction on your record if you complete the probation. However, it will still be on your criminal record as an arrest. If you want to get rid of it so it won't come up in a background check, then you need to file a petition for nondisclosure. You can do this as soon as you complete the deferred probation. I would recommend that you hire an attorney to do this for you.

Re: After deferred judification

Depending on the offense, you may be able to seal the records from the general public via a petition for non-disclosure. unfortunatley, this is not automatic, you will have to go back to court for a hearing on this. When did you complete your deferred? what court were you in? Was it in Harris county?
