Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
If someone, deliberately, accepts $600.-$700.00, to provide a service for another, never intending to really do so,but only trying to get as much money from the individual, who is, desperately, looking to the 1st party,in good faith, for help, what crime would this constitute and what possible penalty might result?

Misdemeanor theft carrying up to 1 year in jail and up to $4,000 fine.
