Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Domestic Violence

I was arrested for family violence causing bodily harm last week. I am on Zoloft and issues w/ my doctor caused me to be off my meds for about a week...leading to Zoloft withdrawal which can cause violence and rage. My fiance is not pressing charges and has filled out the appropriate paperwork. The detective has informed us that he does not plan to pursue the case. I already have a court date. Since the detective doesn't want to continue with the case, what will likely happen to me? Pictures were taken...and I DID do it. I have never been in trouble before..not even a traffic ticket. I am, on my own, going to be participating in a ''mental health'' program that my therapist and psychiatrist are working out. I just want to know what to expect.

Re: Domestic Violence

There is no guarantee that the ADA will not pursue this charge. I strongly recommend that you get an attorney, and do not directly discuss this case with the ADA. I am curious/surprised that you were arrested last week, and yet have a court date already. That is unusual.
