Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

Domestic violence/teenager lies to police

Teen lied to police in Sept of 2003. Parent is arrested and spends two nights in jail. Parent has never even had a traffic violation.

Parent has reputable lawyer and has waited seven months and plans to ask District Attorney to dismiss case because teen has

history of rage behavior, has been under psychiatric care for three years, takes three-four antidepressants, mood stabilizersetc. and parents have called police on four occasions when teens behavior was out of control. Parents tried to press charges but police would never follow through.

Two problems- Police seemed to foul things up and would not believe parents 2. ATTORNEY will not return phone calls to

parents. Parents last talked to attorney in February. What should we do?

Write your attorney and give him a set amount of time to respond. If he doesn't, report him to the State Bar Grievance Committee. Failure to communicate with clients is a disciplinary violation.
