Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

drug charges

What are the charges and sentences that can happen if someone is caught with a low level amount of methamphetamines(ice), and/or cocaine, and/or marijuana in the state of Texas. Even if it is a first time offence.

Re: drug charges

When you say low level I hope you mean less than one gram.

If less than one gram of meth/coke you are in what is classified as a state jail penalty class that holds a sentence anywhere from 180 days to 2 years in a state jail facility.

And in state jail there is no good time. The time you spend is day for day.

Furthermore the fine that can be assessed can be up to $10,000 dollars.

However, you need a good drug lawyer to review your case to determine if there was an improper search and if so your drugs and charge may be dismissed.

If you have any further questions feel free to contact my office.

Sincerely,
