Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas
Drug Paraphenlia Charge
Two years ago my son was arrested, charged and jailed overnight for possession of marijuana under 1 oz. My son & 2 other individuals were living at my father's farm in his house and travel trailer. I hired them to work at the farm to mow and clean. My son got a job working nights on a oil rig. At night the two other individuals slept in the travel trailer and my son slept in it during the day. The two individuals called the police and told them that my son had a felony warrant and that he was dealing drugs from the trailer after he refused them entry to the trailer so that he could sleep. The police came and because my son didn't wake up on their first try, called for back up. They finally woke him, handcuffed him, placed him in the car and searched the trailer. The cause for the search was ''subject was barracade inside with a propane booby trap''. After they searched the trailer they let the two individuals go into the trailer and remove whatever they wanted. My son went to jail. He pled not guilty and asked for a jury trail. Since then the charges have been changed from poss. of marijuana, to poss of drug para. to disorderly conduct. He still has not been been to trial. How long can the DA drag this out? It has been two years.

Re: Drug Paraphenlia Charge
I think your son's lawyer is doing an excellent job for your son. The charges have been reduced twice.
