Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

I on free on bond. I hired an attorney who helped me through the pre trial phase of my case. I can no longer afford him. My next court date is set for June 18 where my atty was originally going to file a motion to supress. What should I do?

Well, if you like your current attorney, you should find a way to get the money. Use a credit card, borrow from friends or family, whatever you need to do. Hopefully you don't have an attorney who requires payment per appearance. You should always get a flat fee attorney.

Your attorney could try to file a motion with the court stating that your funds are exhausted and your are indigent and request the court to appoint him to represent you. Most lawyers won't do that though.

Last options would be to ask the court to appoint a lawyer for you or find someone cheaper.
